Summer Daze Dressage Show, July 18, 2009

Staring *Skyblue Dun Legacy, our homebred curly filly

On July 18 th we attended the Inland Northwest Dressage Assoc. show..."Summer Daze"......Trainer Mike rode Legacy in an Intro A test, and then Training Level Test 1. Legacy placed 3 rd in the Intro A test,  but she shined in the Training Level test, bringing home the blue ribbon!  The day was so different than our first show for Legacy, there were no horse eating judges, garbage cans or anything else, she completely concentrated on Trainer Mike and never missed a step!  In their Training Level Test 1 ride, a large dog, lounging near the arena, suddenly woke and took off barking, right towards Legacy as she came around the corner in front of the judge, Trainer Mike and Legacy never missed a step, completely blocking out all the racket and disruption. That's my girl !!!  After the horse show I brought Legacy home for some more growing and maturing. We also did her preg check, which we had not had time to do before she went in training, and she is in foal for a 2010 HeartBreaker/Legacy foal.....now...that *is*  exciting!

Legacy's 1st Show!

June 13, 2009

On Saturday, the 13th of June, our homebred keeper filly "Legacy" stepped into the show ring for the very first time. Legacy is under the training guidance of Mike Kincella, a well known trainer, who has a special love for the Spanish horses and horses of this style.....Mike and Legacy trotted their way to placings in both their test rides. I knew that the classes were large, but we were mighty pleased with a second placing in the Intro B test.....there were a few horse eating monster objects in Legacy's mind...a couple of trash cans, and even the judge! but she is a youngster, and each and every time out and about will help mature her mind. I also suspect that the breeding to our ranch stallion "Shadow's Hawk Spirit....aka..HeartBreaker" did indeed take...I don't know of many horses in training that keep increasing their girth size...we will have her preg checked later in the summer, but I suspect I know the answer anyway. Way to go Trainer Mike and Legacy, you both deserve a pat on the back!
